About / established 2016

Travel, from the traveller’s side.

BlackBook was set up in 2016 to make the fragmented moments around a journey feel more connected and useful.

Purpose

Less friction around the stay.

Discovery, planning, hotel booking, and rewards often happen in separate places. BlackBook’s purpose is to bring those moments into a clearer path while keeping the transactional experience where it belongs.

Founder note / attributed summary

Iqbal Jumabhoy’s published story describes extensive hospitality travel and repeated feedback about traveller pain points as the starting point for BlackBook. The company that followed set out to connect inspiration, planning, booking, and what comes next.

Three working principles

01

Begin with the journey

Technology should support the traveller’s intent, not become the destination.

02

Make boundaries clear

Inspiration and explanation should lead honestly to live transactional systems.

03

Leave room to change

A useful itinerary makes plans legible without pretending travel follows a script.
